Sofia Sanchez, model and actress, who recently played Wovey in the Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, gave her first ever TEDx talk on our stage. We couldn’t be more proud of this brave young woman who won the audience’s hearts from the moment she stepped on the stage.
Sofia was born in a small town in Ukraine and left alone in an orphanage because she looked different. Her parents were afraid. Her adoptive parents were brave. They took a chance on her from across the world.
“Fear made me an orphan, bravery gave me a family,” says Sofia in her talk.
Sofia tells us in her talk, when you are brave it changes everything. She shared 3 important reasons to be brave.
- Bravery can inspire others, when you believe that you can.
- Bravery is about overcoming challenges and we all have challenges.
- Bravery is about facing your fears. Being brave means taking a leap of faith and facing your fears.
Sofia has done remarkable things in her 15 years and she tells the audience, “Life is not easy for me but I never give up.” She’s an inspiration. If she can do it, well, you certainly can.
In her talk she reiterated the reasons to be brave.
- You can inspire others.
- You can overcome challenges.
- You can face your fears.
She ends by assuring the audience, “You can face your fears.”
