  • A former U.S. Marine Corps Officer, Leadership Expert, and Founder of Breakthrough Leadership Group

Jill Schulman helps people do hard things—and love it. A former U.S. Marine Corps Officer turned leadership expert, she teaches the science of bravery to help individuals and teams push past fear, unlock their potential, and lead more meaningful lives. Her work is grounded in Positive Psychology—the science of what makes life worth living—and she writes regularly for Psychology Today on how to build everyday courage.

Jill is the founder of Breakthrough Leadership Group, where she blends evidence-based strategies with real-world grit. Her book, The Science of Bravery, reveals how to strengthen bravery like a muscle through mindset shifts, bold action, and powerful relationships. She earned her Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, one of the world’s leading programs in human flourishing. Her approach draws from neuroscience, behavioral science, and her own lived experience—whether that’s navigating Marine Corps training or reinventing her career by choosing challenge over comfort.

Jill believes bravery is the foundation of a life well-lived—and that it means not allowing fear to hold us back from reaching our potential. She helps her clients taking brave steps toward meaningful goals, even when they’re scared. It’s not about eliminating fear—but moving forward in its presence to make a bigger impact.

Known for her mix of grit, practicality, and clarity, Jill delivers messages that cut through the fluff and inspire action. When she’s not researching human potential or speaking, you’ll find her hiking in Southern California, reading Stoic philosophy, or plotting her next bold move.
